In my opinion only two things get better with age, fine wines and the Porsche 911. Wines obviously mature and taste divine as any sommelier will tell you, while the Porsche 911 of any vintage progressively becomes more powerful, better looking inside, out and even more desirable. For model year 2010, the iconic sports car's sweet looks remain with the classic teardrop shape, but performance, handling, comfort, fuel economy, emissions and driving pleasure are all improved to ensure the newest 911 Turbo remains the world’s best all-round sports car.
Exterior upgrades are subtle with new titanium-colored louvers in the side air intakes, and very cool LED daytime running lights up front with swiveling headlights on the Turbo. The Turbo’s classic rear biplane spoiler reappears and new LED brake and direction lights and bigger exhaust pipes finish off the rear.

As the old A4, a car that was arguably the most attractive premium compact on the market for most of its tenure, bows out to make way for an all-new 2009 model, so do its various model iterations. Also gone is the A4 Avant, soon to be replaced by a larger more accommodating five-door sport wagon, and the A4 Cabriolet, after one more slightly shorter year as is, will be nixed completely, replaced by an even prettier A5 Cabriolet next spring. Nice looking car, isn't it? Audi makes some pretty attractive vehicles, some of which are downright stunning. And they seem to get better with each new introduction. In my eyes, the TT is modern art on wheels, and the R8, well, you don't need to get me started on that. Even the new A5, with its surprisingly large trunk and spacious adult-friendly back seats, still manages to be downright sexy.
Whether you're looking at it up close or taking it all in from a distance, there isn't a single uncomfortable angle or oddly placed line on the A5. It flows well, and yet has an aggressive demeanor to it, created by its chromed trapezoidal grille and Audi's newest trademark, those piercing LED daytime running lights. From the side the A5's design is fluid, highlighted by its main character line that flows over the wheel arches, intensifying their effect against the otherwise clean body. It's least interesting from the back, where its pinched taillights look too much like those on the 3-Series, but all in all it's a very effective, progressive design. See one of... |
