Summer Skin Care Tips
Sun exposure, heat, and in the summer months can be hard on your skin. Excessive heat during the summers disturbs the oil-water balance in the body. Too much perspiration clogs the pores and exposure to the U.V. rays results in premature aging, wrinkles and sagging of the skin. Also there is a risk of skin cancer. Here are some tips on how to keep your skin looking great all summer.
Fake Not Bake If you want the bronze goddess look, get out the self-tanners and protect your skin in the sun to avoid a leathery look in your golden years to achieve that sun kissed look.
Moisture Summer heat dries out your skin, making moisturizer even more vital. Use a gel based moisturizer or a mist to keep your skin hydrated. Even if you have oily skin, you need to apply moisturizer. Most importantly, drink plenty of water to help to keep your skin looking its best and avoid caffeine and hard drinks.
Exfoliate Exfoliate your skin regularly to remove dead skin cells on the surface. Exfoliating can help your skin absorb sunscreen and moisturizer leaving your skin with a fresh glow. Regular basis would be once a week. Best to find produce with jojoba, as it’s not too abrasive on the skin.
Lighten Up ’Less is more’ for summer makeup. Ways to lighten up your foundation use moisturizer or use a powder. Use more glowing and radiant sheer colours and trade in that heavy lipstick for a sexy gloss
Wash Up Keep up your regular cleansing routine to wash the sweat, sunscreen, and dirt of a summer day off your face and keep your pores clear. Splash water on your skin in an interval of 2-3 hours. The routine is to usually wash with warm water and finish the rinse with cold water to close the pores. Then do the toner (remove leftover soap residue etc.) and finally moisturize.
Sunscreen If you spend a lot of time outside, a strong sunscreen should be incorporated in your daily skin regimen. If you’re not out for longer than half an hour at a time, an SPF 15 sunscreen will be enough. Use sunscreen of 30 SPF if you have fair sensitive skin. Apply the first coat of sunscreen 20 minutes before going out in the sun and the second coat of the sunscreen if you’re out in the sun for a longer period if time.
Lips Don’t forget your lips. They burn chap and peel just like the rest of our skin. Make sure you hydrate and protect by applying lip products that contain UV protection. One tip for great lips is to exfoliate. "Take an old toothbrush, dampen it and gently brush it across your lips. Another technique would be to use olive oil all over the lips, then rub brown sugar (using fingers) to remove dead skin.
