ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAI

Seen through the eyes of a police officer, ‘Once Upon A Time in Mumbai’ traces the changing face of the Mumbai underworld. The movie is a tale of two gangsters from the eras of past and present, whose lives enter parallel paths as they struggle to survive within Bombay's criminal underworld. The film, set primarily in a 1970 Mumbai, follows the rise of Sultan (Ajay Devgn), and the conflict, when his protégé Shoaib (Emraan Hashmi), challenges his supremacy, and usurps power to rule the murky underbelly of Mumbai. The film has been treated in an avante garde fashion, bursting with color, underlining the style of the 70s and 80s.

Directed by Milan Luthria, the movie is slotted to hit theatres in late July to early August 2010. Why the tentative dates? Well tension-filled delays are plaguing the film. The movie which is much awaited now seems to have its hands full and has had many problems for bearing resemblance to the real life underworld dons and is receiving threats before its release. It certainly is interesting when life imitates art or is it vice versa in this case?
