1) Veterans of the Indian Armed Forces proudly pose with Indian Consulate General, Ashok Das in celebration of the 60th Republic Day of India on January 26, 2009. The event was commemorated with a traditional flag hoisting ceremony in downtown Vancouver and an evening reception at the Plaza 500 Hotel.
2) The India Club celebrated the Republic Day of India by honouring five top Grade 12 graduates and one athlete in Vancouver. |
 
3) About 1,100 guests packed the Richmond Oval, the site for speedskating events, to celebrate the official countdown to 2010 on February 12t. Among them were athletes, former Olympians, Olympic executives from around the world as well as politicians. Musical performances entertained the spectators, and cheers erupted in the 30-second countdown to 6 p.m. — the official one-year mark to the Games.
4) SFU Girls Giddha, a club created to promote and educate everyone about traditional Indian dance held a fundraiser for the BC Cancer society at Fraserview Hall.
5) Music Waves rolled out the red carpet for the world premiere of Jag Jeondeyan De Mele, a Bollywood movie on February 16th. The film premiere starring Harbhajan Mann and Tulip Joshi was held at the Vancity Theatre in Vancouver.
