King Khan Too Good Looking For Politics

King Khan Too Good Looking For Politics

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan thinks he is not made for politics because to him he is “too materialistic and too good-looking” to play the role, but was very appreciative of the youngsters who are joining politics, but for him it is a big sacrifice that one has to make, which he is not willing to. “I would also take this opportunity to apologise on behalf of the entire industry that caricatured politicians in their films. They are not as self-centred as shown in our films,” he added.

Nanhe Jaisalmer

Nanhe Jaisalmer

This Samir Karnik production is about a young Nanhe (Dwij Yadav), a small village boy with a side turban on his head, being a diehard fan of Bobby Deol and could do anything to meet him. Nanhe Jaisalmer is a movie that portrays a friendship between two people of different ages, status, and class. From camel rides to Himesh’s hit tracks Nahne leaves a warm feeling in hearts about the friendship of these two unlikely companions in the desert. The sands of Jaisalmer serves as witnesses to the burgeoning friendship of a fan and a star. The best thing about this movie is the simplicity of the movie and the manner by which a small village kid develops a diehard liking for a star which leads him to finally get the opportunity to meet him. The Friendship between Nanhe and Bobby was fun to watch. The movie might have not brought in much revenue but it sure did bring big hopes in the heart of those diehard fans wanting to meet their favourite stars. ¡

Dhol

Dhol

This Priyadarshan’s directed film is about four losers (Tusshar Kapoor, Sharman Joshi, Kunal Kemmu, Rajpal Yadav) who are friends and are finding it hard to make something out of their lives.  Whatever they try to do in their lives ends up flopping badly, and one bright day they get an idea to get rid of their miseries by wooing a nice rich girl.  That’s when Ritu (Tanushree Dutta) moves into the city with her grandparents. After seeing the girl they all think that they have found a perfect girl to pursue. After their misadventures they find out that the girl is in town to solve the mystery behind her brother’s suicide. They pretend to be friends of the deceased brother in effort to come closer to the girl. However, the plan backfires when the dead guy’s actual friend Payal Rohatgi and the killer (Murli Sharma) appear. Most of the funny scenes are inserted forcefully in the movie, obviously to make people laugh, and don’t suit the film. The cast of the movie is very good but not used in good manner. Tushar Kapoor and Sharman Joshi have proved that they are good comic actors.  Apart from the title track the soundtracks of the movie are not foot tapping or melodious enough to bring anything special to the movie. ¡

Speed

Speed

The name of the movie is speed butnever really managed to pickup speed in the Bollywood market and has become one of the biggest disappointments of the year. This Vikrant Bhatt’s movie has everything in it such as bad production, bad script and bad acting. A few lowlights would have been understandable but this movie had too many of them.  Produced in London this movie has three tracks. The first with a science teacher (Urmila Matgaonkar) being kidnapped and kidnappers blackmail her husband (Sanjay Suri), to kill the Prime Minister (Suhasini Mulay) of India. The second is a love story, where a spoiled brat (Zayed Khan) comes all the way to London to convince her girlfriend (Tanushree Datta) that he likes her. Tanushree and Zayed looks nothing like a couple and exhibit no chemistry. The third is about a plan to kill the Prime Minister by her son (Raj Zutshi) with the help of a secret –agent- turned terrorist (Aftab Shivdasani). The plan is perfectly executed but fails to give any boost or highlight to the movie. All of the actor fail to impress in the movie and seemed like all of them need a trip back to acting school. So to wrap it this entire movie was a big flop with no highlights or reason to go watch. ¡

Laaga Chunari Mein Daag

Laaga Chunari Mein Daag

It’s been years and years since we’ve seen the aroma of middle class in such fine and beautiful colours.  This Pardeep Sarkar’s movie is a perfect tale of a totally lost women’s rise from the matters flesh to the spirit. The movie starts of very nicely with two sisters Badki (Rani) and Chukti (Konkona) dancing on Ghats of Ganga River in Varanasi.  We immediately get drawn into Pardeep Sarkar’s world as the character’s go from bankruptcy to unscheduled redemption.  Rani has done a fine job in the movie playing the character of a small-town girl who transforms into a high- class prostitute with dismay and admiration. The movie has pace and grace and it has the cast to support it. Rani’s done an amazing job in the lead role and Konkona is playing Rani’s small sister. Also Jaya Bachan has done a fantastic job playing the role of a mother who runs the house with nil finances and lives with the guilt of letting her daughter cross the path of morality. In my mind Laga chunri main dag is one the finest movies to portray change in life for woman from a shy innocent girl to a wealthy prostitute in order to save the family. This movie was made beautifully by Pardeep Sarkar and should qualify as one of the biggest hits of the year.

BHOOL BHULAIYAA

BHOOL BHULAIYAA

There’s only one reason to bear through this insufferable and meaningless horror comedy.  AND it’s no Akshay Kumar or the way he laughs or the way he picks up his legs before he yawns but it’s the work of United States of America-returned Vidya Balan. This horror based comedy welcomes you to the house of horrors with twaif dancing and singing in Bengali. By the time Vidya is introduced as the Ghost in the closet we’ve had just about enough of Priyadarshan’s horror story that relies on blind faith and black magic. So if you were scared of ghosts and believed in them I am sure that you would stop believing and getting scared from ghosts after watching this horror comedy. So coming to the only highlight of the movie Vidya Balan, as women possessed she gives so much energy into her Kathak dance in the demented courtesan’s domaine that you forgive Priyadarshan’s direction for this bad comedy. Vidya brings so much charm and angst to her part as she swirls and twirls doing her kathak along with her twinkle toed lover. She looks so lovely and romantic in this un-lovely and un-romantic film that you would want to rate this movie as a hit. But with everyone else seeming absolutely insane the beautiful part of Vidya Balan just fades away from the movie. In my mind this movie was given big hype when it first came out and didn’t even come close that hype. So sorry Priyadarshan No Oscar for this horror comedy.
