Wedding Story: Manpreet & Ramneek

Darpan, 31 Mar, 2016

    Q: How did you meet?

Ramneek: We attended the same school since Grade 11. We used to share class notes with each other; we became friends then onwards.

Q: What do you love most about one another?

Ramneek: We have a great sense of understanding for each other. There is simplicity in our relationship.

Q: Could you share your proposal story?

Ramneek: We knew each other as friends for seven years. Three years back, in 2013, Manpreet proposed me for marriage. We told our parents that we wanted to be together our whole life as husband and wife. Our parents met, families liked each other, and gave us their blessing for the marriage.

Q: Describe your wedding day. What was your favourite moment?

Ramneek: I was so excited that the day we were planning for almost a year had finally arrived. Our wedding hall was decorated with red flowers. There was a gathering of 800-1,000 people.  I was feeling nervous as it was so hard to face such a huge crowd. My best moment at the wedding ceremony was when we were sitting in the Gurdwara in front of Sri Guru Granth Sahib for Anand Karaj and my father handed the palla (wedding scarf) from Manpreet’s shoulder in my hands.

Q: Could you tell us about your reception?

Ramneek: The reception was a day after the wedding ceremony. Manpreet and I were very relaxed. We met all our relatives from both sides. We danced a lot.

Q: Can you describe your outfits?

Ramneek: For the wedding ceremony, I wore a red lehenga with beautiful diamond embroidery work on it. The lehenga had a dash of blue on it. The chunni was of orange and red colour. Manpreet was wearing a cream-coloured sherwani with a red turban and palla that matched my lehenga.

For our wedding reception, I wore a cream and navy blue-coloured lehenga with artistic embroidery on it. The chunni was of pink and cream colour. Manpreet wore a dark purple suit. I chose blue as it is Manpreet’s favourite colour.

    Q: Where did you honeymoon?

Ramneek: We went to Kerala in South India. We enjoyed the trip. We also spent two days in a boathouse enjoying the back waters – it was the best part of our trip.

Q: What are your goals as a couple?

Ramneek: To make each other happy and to please our families.

Q: What are the strengths of your marriage?

Ramneek: Strong communication skills, togetherness, flexibility and compatibility, and the ability to understand and deal with conflicts.

Q: If you could provide any advice to other married couples, what would it be?

Ramneek: Remember that everything you do together has twice as much power as compared to what you do alone. Creating goals as a couple or a family is not only healthy for your relationship, but fun as well.

Wedding Story - Priscilla & Roy

Roy and I had plans to watch a movie on the day it happened but plans changed when I was handed a note from my brother. The note stated to follow steps and that’s when a private escalade picked me up from my house. I was taken to the Olympic cauldron (a symbol of when we met) then I was escorted to the Vancouver seaplane terminal where Roy had proposed. We boarded a private seaplane to Horseshoe Bay to the boathouse where we had our first Valentine's day date.

    Bedazzle with Light

Sunam’s signature style stems from its usage of spectacular lighting, and Kainth and his team usually eliminate a venue’s white lighting, and replace it with rich hues of fuchsia pink, gold, blue or purple to name a few.  In addition, Kainth customizes each event with his clients and finds that most brides want the event décor to reflect their outfits.
