My Dad Decided To Put Me Into Cricket: Mithali Raj

IANS, 18 Jul, 2018 01:16 PM
Indian women's cricket team captain Mithali Raj, who wanted to be a dancer, says it was her fathers decision to put her into the cricket.

Raj shared interesting facts from her life on the "Breakfast with Champions" show hosted by Gaurav Kapur, a statement said.

"It was my dad's decision to put me into cricket and of course my mother did not wanted me to be a cricketer. She wanted me to be a dancer. I started dance much before I got into cricket and it was something of my own choice. I wanted to be a dancer," Raj said on the show.

The cricketer said she enjoyed dancing.

"I enrolled myself and then cricket happened because of various reasons. My parents had to face a lot of challenges. Coming from a south Indian family, cricket was nowhere and no one played sport in my family and for my grandparents to expect that their granddaughter plays cricket with boys was difficult," she said.
