Singer Yash Wadali Held On Molestation Charges, To Be Produced In Court

Darpan News Desk IANS, 04 Aug, 2017 02:49 PM
39-year-old woman, on 4 August, lodged a molestation case against singer Yash Wadali at Bangurnagar police station in suburban Goregaon, a senior official said.

The alleged incident took place at around 5 pm at the residence of the complainants friend in Goregaon, where the singer and few other friends were also present.

"The complainant was at her friends residence, where a quarrel broke out between Wadali and her over the issue of singing a song. Later, Wadali held her collar with an intent to outrage her modesty and also abused the woman," senior police inspector Santosh Bhandare said.

Based on the complaint filed by the woman, police have registered a case against the singer under sections 354 (punishment for sexual harassment) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the IPC, he said.

No arrest has been made so far and further investigation is on, the officer said.

According to a report by The Indian Express, Wadali will reportedly be produced at the Dindoshi sessions court at 11 am on 4 August.

However, as per a Hindustan Times report, Wadali has refuted the allegations saying they are "false". He further added that the woman was "drunk and not in her senses". He has reportedly informed police that the woman had threatened and abused him. His lawyer, Falguni Bhrambhatt, told Hindustan Times that Wadali would also file a bail application on 4 August.
