A Surrey City Centre neighbourhood was the scene of a shooting early Tuesday morning after gunfire struck a parked vehicle, prompting an ongoing police investigation.
According to Surrey Police Service (SPS), frontline officers responded to reports of shots fired near Central Avenue and 133 Street at approximately 2:04 a.m. on June 16.
When officers arrived, they discovered gunfire damage to an unoccupied parked vehicle. No injuries were reported.
Police say the investigation is in its early stages, and the motive behind the shooting remains unknown. However, investigators believe the incident was targeted and is not related to extortion.
SPS’s Major Crime Section has taken over the investigation, with officers expected to remain in the area conducting neighbourhood canvasses and collecting physical and digital evidence.
Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area or who has CCTV, surveillance, or dashcam footage from around the time of the incident to come forward.
