More than 10,300 runners, walkers, strollers, and rollers came together across British Columbia on Sunday for the annual BC Children’s Hospital RBC Race for the Kids, raising more than $2 million in support of pediatric health care.
Participants took part in events held in Vancouver, Victoria, and communities across the province, demonstrating a shared commitment to improving the lives of children and families who rely on BC Children’s Hospital.
Now in its 40th year, the family-friendly fundraiser has become one of the province’s most recognized community events. Since its launch in 1986, Race for the Kids has raised more than $25 million and welcomed over 180,000 participants, helping fund critical programs, groundbreaking research, and life-saving care for children across British Columbia and the Yukon.
Funds raised through this year’s event will support a range of urgent priorities at BC Children’s Hospital, including pediatric cancer research, mental health initiatives, and other areas requiring vital resources and investment.
The event is designed to be inclusive and accessible, bringing together people of all ages and abilities. Families, friends, community groups, and corporate teams participated in the race, celebrating the resilience and strength of children while helping advance pediatric health care.
BC Children’s Hospital remains the only hospital in British Columbia and the Yukon dedicated exclusively to children and is consistently recognized among the world’s leading pediatric hospitals. Nearly one million children across the region depend on the hospital for specialized care and treatment.
Since 1982, the BC Children's Hospital Foundation has been the largest charitable funder of pediatric health care in the province, supporting innovative research, advanced medical technology, and specialized programs that help shape the future of children's health care.
Organizers say fundraising efforts are continuing, with the total expected to grow beyond the $2 million already raised as additional donations are received in the coming days.
