Former India fast bowler Zaheer Khan is joining forces with his longtime teammate and 2011 World Cup-winning colleague Yuvraj Singh, this time as a co-owner of the Vancouver Anchors in Canada Super 60.
Khan has joined the ownership group of the Vancouver-based men's and women's franchises alongside Nagendra “Naga” Siddoutam and Stockholm-based Anchor Sports AB. His addition brings another high-profile name from Indian cricket to the league as it looks to expand the sport's presence in Canada.
The move reunites Khan and Singh, who shared the Indian dressing room during some of the country's most memorable cricketing campaigns, including India's 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup triumph. Singh is a co-owner of Canada Super 60.
For Khan, however, the partnership is about more than their shared history. He said the league's focus on associate-nation players and women's cricket aligns with his belief that cricket's next phase of growth must be global.
“Canada Super 60 is a first-class product, staged at one of the world's most iconic venues, in a city with its own character and charm,” Khan said. “As former players, we owe it to the game to back credible leagues that create real opportunities for associate-nation players and women cricketers.”
Singh welcomed his former teammate to the league, describing Khan as a close friend and someone who brings experience and energy to the project.
“Zak and I have shared some of the biggest moments of our careers, and coming together again for this chapter feels special,” Singh said.
Khan's involvement is also expected to contribute to the Anchors' cricketing strategy, particularly in areas such as player development, high-performance culture and the growth of emerging talent.
Anchor Sports AB, which owns both the men's and women's Vancouver franchises, said its investment is built around long-term development and creating opportunities in emerging cricket markets.
“Placing men's and women's cricket on the same major platform shows both deserve investment and visibility,” said Siddoutam, owner of Anchor Sports AB and the Vancouver Anchors. “Vancouver is diverse, international, and forward-looking, making it the ideal home for the Anchors.”
The Canada Super 60 organizers also welcomed Khan's addition, saying his involvement adds credibility to the league's ambitions of connecting international cricket with Canadian and associate-nation talent.
Canada Super 60 Season 2 is scheduled to run from September 29 to October 4, 2026, at BC Place in Vancouver. The tournament will feature six franchises and 24 matches across men's and women's competitions.
The Vancouver Anchors will field both men's and women's teams as part of the league's efforts to build a professional cricket platform in Canada while increasing opportunities for local, international and emerging players.
For cricket fans, the tournament will also mark the reunion of two members of India's 2011 World Cup-winning side — Khan and Singh — at BC Place, this time working to shape cricket's next chapter in Canada.
