Actress Rakul Preet summoned by ED in drug-related case

New Delhi, Dec 16 (IANS) The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday summoned, on December 19, actress Rakul Preet Singh in connection with a four-year-old drug trafficking and consumption case.
Her statement was recorded by the ED in this connection last year too.
"The actress has been asked to appear before the investigating agency on December 19. Rakul Preet was questioned by the ED on September 2, 2021. Several Telugu actors were also questioned in the matter," a source said.
The anti-money-laundering agency has been probing this drug trafficking and consumption case for the past four years after a high-end drugs cartel, supplying LSD and MDMA and other narcotics, was busted in 2017 by Telangana's Prohibition and Excise department.
The present case are was lodged by the ED on the basis of that matter after it found that money of that drug cartel was laundered via various channels.
"Singham" star Ajay Devgn and "Simmba" star Ranveer Singh will do cameos in Akshay Kumar-starrer "Sooryavanshi", which will expand Rohit Shetty's Bollywood "cop universe".
Actress Shriya Pilgaonkar has been roped in for Sneha Taurani's "Bhangra Paa Le". She will be making a special appearance, but "her character is extremely important to the film".
"The way audiences have resonated with the emotion of patriotism, valour and sacrifices of our armed forces has been amazing. As artists, that is the biggest takeaway for us," added the actor, who was seen as Major Vihaan Singh Shergill in the film.
A film registered itself on its prospective audience better with attractive visuals. That is why we had posters, on walls as well as on poles. We had, what was called six-sheeters: they accounted for six standard 30"x40" wall posters pasted together.
With questions being raised on social media over his new movie "India's Most Wanted", director Raj Kumar Gupta insists no political intention has driven the narrative of the film, said to have a theme set in the era of UPA rule.
