Akshay Kumar Donates Rs 9 Lakh To Martyred Jawan’s Family

Darpan News Desk IANS, 27 Oct, 2016 12:01 PM
While others are debating whether to ban Pakistani actors or not, Akshay Kumar has shown what patriotism is really about. The actor, whose father was in the army, has donated Rs 9 lakh to the family of a martyred BSF jawan, according to reports.

The jawan succumbed after being targeted by Pakistani snipers. he was part of the team that foiled a major infiltration bid in Jammu and Kashmir. Akshay’s spokesperson is yet to confirm the reports.

This is not the first time that Akshay has donated to the army. In August, Akshay had donated Rs 80 lakh to the army. Speaking about his action, he had said then, “They are decorated with lot of medals and that is good.

But I looked at their faces. The samman was required for them but they need money too. You have to be practical. I thought how about giving them money and that is when I decided to give 5 lakhs to each family.”

In the heat of controversy over Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’s release in the aftermath of the Uri attacks, Akshay had asked India to take care of its jawans and their families first and worry about everything later.

He was also amongst the first few to wish the jawans as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative #SandeshToSoldiers.
