  • Alia, Varun Mourn Death Of Hodor From 'Game Of Thrones'
After getting a breather with the resurrection of popular character Jon Snow in "Game of Thrones", Indian fans were in for a shock with the brutal death of gentle giant Hodor. The tragedy of the character played by Kristian Nairn left even Bollywood actors like Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan devastated.

The fifth episode of the ongoing sixth season of the medieval fantasy TV show, according to telegraph.co.uk, unraveled the mystery of the gentle giant’s impaired conversational skills. The character just had one dialogue in the entire show and that was to say "Hodor".

The climax of episode explained the giant’s past and also why he is only able to say his name, which is actually a command - “Hold the door”.

Putting sad emoticons on her official account on Twitter, Alia shared “#HoldTheDoor #Hodor #GameofThrones”.

Varun was also disappointed with the death of Hodor. He shared: “#HoldTheDoor #Hodor”, whereas actor-comedian Vir Das tweeted: “Game of thrones....kinda losing the plot”.

Tanmay Bhat, member of stand-up comedy group All India Bakchod (AIB), decoded the death sequence for twitterati.

He shared: “Hold The Door...Hold T Door...Hold Door...Hol Dor...HoDor...HoDo...HD.”

"Game Of Thrones", which is based on novels by George R.R. Martin, and is a dramatic telling of a story entwined with sneaky ploys, nudity and bloodshed in a quest to claim the 'Iron Throne'.

In between all the slaughter and plotting in the show, Nairn emerged from the stables of Winterfell (a fictional town of the series) to make a place in the hearts of the audience as a gentle giant.

The actor from Northern Ireland, who is also a disc jockey, tweeted: “Hodor. Thank you guys, for the love, + know that I love you back. I never dreamt of all this. Huge props to @SamColemanActor for an amazing job”.

Nairn had earlier told IANS that he had his doubts while taking up the role, but eventually fell in love with his character.

"When I first heard the role, I was like, 'Really just one word?' But after a while, I learnt to love the character. It is a very different style of acting... I love Hodor and I'm really going to miss him,” he had said.
