'Angry Indian Goddesses' to release digitally

Darpan News Desk IANS, 18 Mar, 2016 02:12 PM
Pan Nalin's "Angry Indian Goddesses", which released in India in December last year, is now set for a digital release on The Viral Fever's (TVF) TVF Play app and website.

Jungle Book Entertainment will release the film on TVF Play in a manner where the audience gets access to the film right after the theatrical release, on their computers, phones and notebooks for a week to watch it anytime, anywhere as many number of times during seven days for a one-time fee.

"Angry Indian Goddesses", which is touted as India's first 'female buddy' film, features an ensemble cast of Sarah-Jane Dias, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Anushka Manchanda, Sandhya Mridul, Rajshri Deshpande and Adil Hussain among others.

"We have been receiving thousands of fan mail, a large chunk from young audiences in India who couldn't see the film in cinema theatres in December. The most radical step that we are taking is that instead of broadcasting on TV, we decided to release the film online," the film's producer Gaurav Dhingra said in a statement.

Arunabh Kumar, founder and CEO of The Viral Fever (TVF), said: "We are proud to showcase 'Angry Indian Goddesses'. It is a great film that has won numerous awards and I think the Indian audience will really enjoy watching it."

The film will have its digital release on Sunday.

Internationally, "Angry Indian Goddesses" is set to release across Europe in May-June this year and in the US and Canada in July 2016, while the Middle East and South America release is slated for late 2016.
