  • Anupam Kher humbled by L.K. Advani's 'generosity'
Overwhelmed by BJP veteran L.K. Advani's effusive praise for his play "Mera Woh Matlab Nahi Tha", veteran actor Anupam Kher thanked the senior BJP leader for his “generosity” to come and witness the play.

“Thank you Advani Ji for your generosity and praise for our play #MeraWohMatlabNahiTha. We loved your presence,” Anupam tweeted.

Directed by Rakesh Bedi, the play is about two ex-lovers, Preetam Kumar Chopra (Anupam) and Hema Roy (Neena Gupta) meeting after 35 long years, to discover the truth behind their separation.

The play was staged in the capital on Saturday, and will also be brought alive on Sunday.

Anupam, whose actress wife Kirron Kher is a Bharatiya Janata Party MP, also shared a string of photographs in which Advani is seen applauding the actors on the stage. In one image, Advani can be seen with a microphone and seems to be sharing words of appreciation for the actors and director.

Anupam, who has been associated with the world of theatre for long, also appreciated the turnout for the play.

He posted: “What an amazing audience last night for our play #MeraWohMatlabNahiTha. Thank you Delhi for your standing ovation.”

Meanwhile, on the film front, his film “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo” has set cash registers ringing at the box office. The Salman Khan-starrer has amassed over Rs.100 crore since its release on Thursday.
