Anurag Kashyap, Nawazuddin turn RJs to promote film

Darpan News Desk IANS, 23 Jun, 2016 01:32 PM
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, known for directing dark thrillers, turned radio jockey for the show "Kissa Crime Ka" with the film's lead actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Kashyap, whose forthcoming directorial "Raman Raghav 2.0" -- a crime thriller inspired by a real life story -- will release on Friday, will make the radio jockey stint on two episodes of the Radio City 91.1 FM show.

"Raman Raghav 2.0" is a thriller based on the notorious serial killer Raman Raghav who operated in Mumbai during 1960s.

Kashyap will narrate stories of two different serial killers in the series.

Talking about it, he said in a statement: "As a character, Raman is full of nuances and quirks, and thus I liked the idea of promoting the film, through his traits."

The title character in the film is essayed by actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, while Vicky Kaushal plays the role of a police officer.

As part of the film integration, Nawazuddin also visited Radio City studio and hijacked RJ Rohit Vir's show "Taka Tak Mumbai" as Ramanna -- the character he is playing -- and hosted the show, holding the RJ as a hostage in the studio.

“At Radio City, out-of-the-box is the box. So when Anurag told us about the idea, it seemed as quirky as a Raman-doing. Phantom Films was the perfect partner for this crime and we’ve just taken things from there for our listeners,” Abraham Thomas, CEO of Radio City 91.1 FM, said in a statement.

The show will be aired on Sunday.
