Big B like a child on 'Piku' sets: Shoojit Sircar

Darpan News Desk IANS, 18 Nov, 2014 12:12 PM
  • Big B like a child on 'Piku' sets: Shoojit Sircar
Busy with the shooting of "Piku" in the city, filmmaker Shoojit Sircar says Bollywood screen icon Amitabh Bachchan, who stars in the film, behaves like a child on the movie's sets and is open to ideas of substance.

The "Madras Cafe" filmmaker was all excited talking about the time he is getting to spend with the 73-year-old megastar during the film's current schedule in Kolkata.

"He is a kid on the sets. He converses with us in Bengali. If you present him with an idea, something of substance and importance, he will believe in it," Sircar told reporters here Monday.

Big B launched the first look of Bengali film "Open Tee Bioscope", the directorial debut of Anindya Chatterjee, frontman of Bengali band Chandrabindoo.

It is produced by Sircar and Ronnie Lahiri.

Sircar said that for him it was not the box office that mattered, but the quality of work that he is does.

"I would like to take this movie internationally because it has innocence, life and has an international quality look to it.

"If you can watch an Iranian movie in Mumbai or Kolkata, then why not a Bengali film in Iran?" wondered the director, adding that he would surely do more Bengali films in future.

However, Sircar was tight-lipped on the storyline and other details of "Piku".

Quizzed by reporters, he quipped: "Piku? Who is Piku?"
