Calling 'Male Stalker' A Bollywood Genre, Saif Ali Khan Says Shah Rukh Made His Career Out Of It!

Darpan News Desk IANS, 04 Oct, 2019 09:25 PM

Saif Ali Khan is one such actor who uses his freedom of speech and expression freely when it comes to expressing opinions. Be it revolving around the cinema or general topics he is known to raise his own voice over the same.

In an exclusive interview with Zoom, Saif spoke about the craziness about Indian cinema’s fanatic obsession with male stalker. He said, “Male stalker is almost the genre for Indian cinema and somehow it's always been successful and Shah Rukh Khan made his career on it in the beginning.”

When asked about why this is a common thing, he said, “I don't know, it's like a society thing, we have a tendency to give the audience what we feel they want and again, these characters must have trickled down from the West... they must have been because we copy a lot.”

He also spoke on how Shah Rukh’s Baazigar was inspired by James Dearden's A Kiss Before Dying. He said, “There was a film that became Baazigar, it was not an original Indian idea. It's a Western film about a guy who starts bumping of the girls in the family he wants to take revenge from.”

On the movie front, Saif will be seen in Laal Kaptaan with Manav Vij, Zoya Hussain and Deepak Dobriyal. The story revolves around a naga sadhu who is seeking revenge. It is slated to release on October 18, 2019. He’s also been roped in for Jawaani Janeman with Tabu and Tanhaji: The Unsung Hero with Ajay Devgn.
