Challenge To Make Films Matching Global Standard: Big B

Darpan News Desk IANS, 26 Dec, 2015 01:55 PM
  • Challenge To Make Films Matching Global Standard: Big B
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan says it is a "challenge" to make films that match programmes of international standards which viewers are used to watching on television today.

"Viewers in India get to watch international programmes on TV at the same time they are telecast abroad. They say they don't want to spend a few thousand rupees to watch a film whose standard is not the same.

"It has become a challenge to make films of the standard that the viewers are used to seeing and get them to come to the movies," Bachchan told the media here while promoting his upcoming film "Wazir".

"Wazir" produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and directed by Bijoy Nambiar, also stars Farhan Akhtar, Aditi Rao Hydari and Neil Nitin Mukesh.

About the changes, Bachchan said he enjoys working with the younger lot and expressed gratitude that people still want to work with him at his age.

"I feel fortunate to be working with youngsters since it's a learning experience. I hope I keep getting roles. I am grateful that people want to work with me now. Though I do not get roles like the ones I used to get during my youth... those of the leading man but I get mostly character roles. I feel very happy to play them," Bachchan added.

However, he refused to comment on actors Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan's stance on social issues and the subsequent controversy regarding the film industry being divided.

"We are the same people that we are 40 years ago. Suddenly when you become an actor people think we are the last word in politics, last word in social issues. We just want to act in front of the camera. We are very normal people. We involve ourselves in social causes and I think that's very important," Bachchan said.
