Dilip Kumar Thanks All For Wishing Him On Birthday

    Veteran actor Dilip Kumar has thanked all his fans and followers for sending him "lovely messages" on his 94th birthday.
     
    "Thank you for all the beautiful and lovely messages," Dilip tweeted on Sunday night. 
     
    The thespian, who turned 94 on Sunday, was admitted to Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre here on Wednesday after complained of swelling in one of his legs. 
     
    The actor says all the heartfelt messages on Twitter brought tears to his eyes. 
     
    "Your love and affection has been so enduring and so touching, your heartfelt messages on this medium brought tears to my eyes," he added. 
     
    The actor, who made his acting debut in "Jwar Bhata" in 1944, was born as Muhammad Yusuf Khan. He later adopted the screen name Dilip Kumar. He was last seen on the big screen in the film "Qila" in 1998. He was honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994 and Padma Vibhushan in 2015.
     
    He has worked in hit films like "Devdas", "Mughal-e-Azam", "Ganga Jamuna", "Kranti" and "Saudagar". 
     
    Dilip also shared a photograph of himself along with his wife and veteran actress Saira Banu cutting a chocolate cake in the hospital.
     
    "Saira, helps me cut a cake," he captioned the image.
     
     
    JAVED AKHTAR MEETS DILIP KUMAR IN HOSPITAL
     
    Writer Javed Akhtar visited veteran Bollywood star Dilip Kumar at the Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre here.
     
    Dilip Kumar, who turned 94 on Sunday, was admitted to the hospital last week after he complained of swelling in one of his legs. 
     
    Actress Shabana Azmi, wife of Akhtar, tweeted a photograph in which her husband is seen along with Dilip Kumar and his wife Saira Banu. 
     
    "Unfortunately, I wasn't in town, but Javed Akhtar conveyed my deepest regards for the tallest thespian Dilip Kumar," Shabana captioned the image. 
     
    NEED PRAYERS FOR DILIP KUMAR TO RECOVER: SAIRA BANU
     
    Veteran actress Saira Banu says her husband Dilip Kumar, now in hospital, is resting and people's prayers are needed for the thespian to recoup. His 94th birthday falls on Sunday.
     
    Saira Banu said: "He is resting and we need your 'dua' (prayers) for him to recoup well and all should be fine by his birthday. Please pray for his quick and safe recovery."
     
    Actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha, who celebrates his birthday two days ahead of Dilip Kumar, said: "This country's most talented and enduring thespian is fast recovering at Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre. We want him to be healthy and happy. He is a national treasure."
     
    Veteran actor Dharmendra said: "Dilip Saab is the reason I became an actor. We all look up to him and try to be like him. I am praying for him to recover quickly."
     
    Dharmendra and Shatrughan Sinha are close friends and intend to visit the idol on Monday. 
     
    Dilip Kumar was admitted to Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre here on Wednesday after swelling in one of his legs.
