Sardaar Ji, a Punjabi film directed by Rohit Jugraj, and starring Diljit Dosanjh, Mandy Takhar and Neeru Bajwa as leads, has smashed box office records with its unbelievable collections over the weekend.

The film, which released on June 26, collected ₹2.5 crore (US$4,00,000) on its first day in Punjab, with almost all shows being houseful. “The response to the film has been wonderful. We have broken all the records. Our collections are triple the amount our last film, Punjab 1984, made,” says Manmord Sidhu, CEO of White Hill Productions and Producer of Sardaar Ji.

On Day 2, Sardaar Ji’s collection from all over India was ₹2.75 crore. The movie is receiving huge appreciation from audience in USA, UK, Australia and New Zealand. Its collection in the USA and Canada was USD$1,60,000, with the worldwide collection being ₹5.07 crore.

On Day 3, the movie’s worldwide collection was ₹5.63 crore. Sardaar Ji earned ₹14.45 crore (US$2.3 million) in its opening weekend. “The response will be good in the coming weeks. Our second day collection was better than the first, and third day was better than the second,” adds Sidhu.

The mix of comedy, action and horror made the movie entertaining for the audience, turning it into a super hit. The success of Sardaar Ji is a huge encouragement for the growth of the Punjabi film industry.
