Diljit Dosanjh's Sardaarji 2 Takes Highest Opening Ever For Punjabi Film

Darpan News Desk Darpan, 25 Jun, 2016 05:06 PM
  • Diljit Dosanjh's Sardaarji 2 Takes Highest Opening Ever For Punjabi Film
Last week it was "Udta Punjab," and this week Diljit Dosanjh's Punjabi film "Sardaarji 2" that has taken the box office by storm. The Punjabi film, which is a sequel to 2015 film "Sardaarji," has opened to phenomenal response at the worldwide box office.

The film smashed all box office records for Punjabi films beating the records of Sardaarji released last year.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted that the Punjabi film has opened to packed houses in India and in the international market. "Much-awaited Punjabi film #SardaarJi2 starts with a bang... Opens to packed houses... Screen count: India 350 screens, Overseas 200 screens," Adarsh tweeted.

The top four initials are all Diljit Dosanjh starrers and the way things are going it could even be that the top five initials could belong to him which is unbelievable and has probably never happenned in any industry.

Basically its a one man industry as far as male leads go. Another stastic to highlight this is that the two Diljit Dosanjh starrers Ambarsariya and Sardaarji 2 combined have collected more than all the other 18 Punjabi films put together on the first day in East Punjab.

The film, which was released on June 24, is directed by Rohit Jugraj. The film features Diljit in double role, while Sonam Bajwa and Monica Gill are the female lead actresses

The top five opening days in East Punjab for Punjabi films are as follows.

1. Sardaarji 2 - 2.05 crore
2. Sardaarji - 2.02 crore
3. Ambarsariya - 1.58 crore
4. Jatt & Juliet 2 - 1.26 crore
5. Angrez - 1.06 crore
