Expect New Cast In Second Season Of '24', Says Anil Kapoor

Darpan News Desk IANS, 01 Sep, 2015 10:18 AM
  • Expect New Cast In Second Season Of '24', Says Anil Kapoor
Anil Kapoor, who starred in and produced "24", the Indian adaptation of the eponymous show, is geared for its second season, and says viewers will be treated to some new cast members.

Anil, who has starred in a season of the American "24", brought a 'desi' version of the show to Indian TV screens with the same title via Colors in 2013. It was a refreshing change not just in terms of the concept and production values, but also had an impressive line-up of actors like Shabana Azmi, Tisca Chopra and Mandira Bedi.

Now a second season will soon be in place.

"We will have a new star cast, a lot of new people are going to be there," Anil, who himself essayed Anti-Terrorist Unit chief Jai Singh Rathore in the show, told IANS here.

Asked if the trend of adapting foreign TV shows for the Indian small screen -- the latest being "Sumit Sambhal Lega", which is adapted from "Everybody Loves Raymond" -- can be equated to the idea of 'playing safe', the 58-year-old shared: "There is nothing wrong with adaptations. It is, after all, a business. You can get a good story from anywhere, so why not?

"Some people make remakes of Telugu and Tamil (films and shows), some from English... So if you find something good and exciting... today the world has become one, so globally, wherever you get a good story from, you should go ahead."

Anil spoke to IANS on the sidelines of a press conference held here on Tuesday for the promotion of his forthcoming film "Welcome Back".
