Actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar has launched “Mumbai Tennis Masters” team which will be representing the financial capital at the Champions Tennis League (CTL) in co-ownership with P Rohit Reddy, promoter family of Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.
 
The actor feels that being a part of the league will support the sport and help it evolve. 
 
“An opportunity like CTL is a step towards a revolution that was long due for our country. With the growing popularity of alternate sports and specifically tennis, it’s a proud moment to present this opportunity to all the avid followers of tennis,” the "Rock On!!" actor said in a statement. 
 
The owners of the team unveiled the logo of the team also.
 
The team will comprise players like the former Spanish player Sergi Bruguera, Tommy Robredo, Alize Cornet and India’s Balaji Sriram. The two Indian juniors who will be accompanying the team are Pranjala Yadlapalli and Mohit Mayur Jayaprakash.
 
“We are affirmative that an initiative like this will only make India grow leaps and bounds by creating a huge consumption for alternate sports genres,” said co-owner Rohit Reddy. 
 
CTL 2014 will see six city based teams play 13 matches over a ten-day period starting Nov 17.
