Feel good to see revival in Marathi cinema: Naseeruddin Shah

Darpan News Desk, 27 Aug, 2015 12:48 PM
Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah, who made his debut in the Marathi film industry with Umesh Kulkarni's 2011 film “Deool”, has given the thumbs up to the director's latest venture “Highway - Ek Selfie Aarpaar” calling the forthcoming film an inspiring one. He says the Marathi film industry is seeing a revival time with such films.

“I really liked the film, it’s inspiring. I have always liked all of Umesh’s films. It feels good to see such a revival in Marathi cinema and such a good topic,” Naseeruddin said in a statement.

Not only Naseeruddin, other noted names in the film industry including his wife Ratna Pathak Shah, Vinay Pathak and Navdeep Singh have also liked the movie.

“'Highway' is beautiful and unique, you need time to grasp film like this. I enjoyed it very much,” Ratna said.

Calling it one of the best films he’s seen in Marathi cinema, filmmaker Govind Nihalani said: “'Highway' is an important film in Marathi context. It’s such a sophisticated film. 'Highway' takes Marathi cinema to a different dimension altogether. It raises the standard very high. One of the best films I have seen in Marathi.”

Vinay shared that he "came to watch 'Highway' with few expectations and I'm glad that he proved me wrong. I was surprised how the film pleasantly unfolds, I loved how they have portrayed different worlds of different people. We don’t get to watch such films and it was like reading good literature for me".

Starring Huma Qureshi, Tisca Chopra, Renuka Shahane and Girish Kulkarni amongst others, “Highway - Ek Selfie Aarpaar” will release on Friday.
