  • Happy studios backing content-driven cinema: Nikhil Advani
Filmmaker Nikhil Advani says he is thrilled to see film studios supporting non-commercial cinema these days.

Advani was present at a screening of Hansal Mehta's film 'Aligarh' here.

"I'm so happy that Bollywood is making such films, 'Neerja' is releasing on Friday, 'Aligarh' is releasing next week and my production company had released 'Airlift' a month back. So I'm very happy that... studios are backing such films," he said at the event.

"Eros (Entertainment) has backed such a film, Fox (Star Studios) backed a film like 'Neerja' and T-Series like 'Airlift', more power to the studios," he added.

About 'Aligarh', Nikhil said: "I liked it very much. Manoj Bajpayee and Rajkummar Rao have done an outstanding job.

"...the two big heroes of the film are Hansal Mehta and Apurva Asrani (writer) for being able to make this kind of film where there are no decorations, frills, and no support system."

He also praised Manoj Bajpayee for playing the lead in the movie.
