Hard To Break Into Mainstream Global Entertainment: Priyanka Chopra

Darpan News Desk IANS, 08 Dec, 2017 12:30 PM
  • Hard To Break Into Mainstream Global Entertainment: Priyanka Chopra
Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra s rise on the world stage with 'Quantico' and 'Baywatch' is unquestionable, but she has admitted that her journey has not been easy.

In a recent interview with Hello magazine, Chopra emphasised that her success rests on her ability to approach every film as a simple actor.

She said, "I have no problem walking into a room and saying 'I'm Priyanka Chopra and I'm an Indian actor."

However, she explained that her name might make headlines in India, Hollywood is a totally different thing.

"I may be at some position in India, but I'm smart enough to know that I'm new in this country," noted Chopra.

While speaking for her own journey in the world of cinema, Chopra said it had been a struggle, she said, "I really find it funny when I'm asked by the Indian media about my first film. It makes me laugh because I don't think people have an understanding of how hard it is to go into another country and break concrete."

The 'Bajirao Mastani' star also spoke about how she has changed as an actor and as a person since starting 'Quantico', three years ago.

She explained, "The changes that have happened to me are a combination of what happened to me personally and what happened professionally. The last few years have been really tumultuous and exciting at the same time. I'm still getting to know the country and I'm moving around constantly. So that always gives you a sense of anxiety."

Adding, "But that was compensated with so much love and acceptance that it was an easier learning curve. This year has really defined a change in me. Somehow I've become a little more in control of myself- I'm a lot more Zen, I have my home in Mumbai and I keep going in and out. I've sort of found a groove. I've figured out how to balance both to the best I can."

Meanwhile, on the work front, PeeCee is currently shooting for the third season of 'Quantico'. The actress also has two Hollywood films, 'A Kid Like Jake' and 'Isn't It Romantic?', in the pipeline
