I Exercise Six Days A Week: Anil Kapoor

Darpan News Desk IANS, 29 Jan, 2015 01:18 PM
  • I Exercise Six Days A Week: Anil Kapoor
Actor-filmmaker Anil Kapoor says he exercises six days a week and recalls the time when he travelled to the location shooting of his 2005 film "My Wife's Murder" on his bicycle.

The 58-year-old was here along with Vijay Sampla, union minister of state for social justice and empowerment, to inaugurate the International Bicycle and Fitness Expo (IBFE) organised at Pragati Maidan Thursday.

Anil, who apparently spends more time cycling than travelling in his car, elaborated on his passion for cycling and fitness.

"I exercise six days a week and whatever I eat or put inside my system, I try to take it out through exercise.

"I have always been passionate about cycling. I have been cycling since my childhood. A cycle not only gets you from one place to another, but it also helps to maintain the fitness level. Since the past eight or nine years, I have been cycling to keep myself fit. Even though I own big cars, I spend more time cycling than I spend in my car," Anil told reporters.

Speaking about his role as a lower middle class husband in "My Wife's Murder", Anil said he cycled his way to the shooting so that he can remain in his character.

"I played a lower middle class person in the film. So I thought 'if I go to the shooting in a luxury car, I will not be in my character'. So, I used to travel to the shooting on my bicycle," he said.

The relentless actor wasn't afraid of the long cycling trip and used to bathe at the sets after his cycling workout.

"The location was one and a half hours away by car but I used to reach in one hour and 15 minutes by my bicycle. I used to shower at the location and then proceed with the shooting. During the entire course of shooting for the film, I followed the same routine.

"Travelling by a bicycle saves the time that you would spend in a gym to remain fit. I would also like to request Sampla sir to encourage cycling -- not only in the cities but also in small towns and villages," said Anil.

The three-day expo, which aims to promote fitness and cycling, will conclude Saturday and is being attended by 50 exhibitors from Europe, China, Japan and Taiwan.
