I Went Through Ragging In College: Sonakshi Sinha

Darpan News Desk IANS, 24 Aug, 2016 11:29 AM
  • I Went Through Ragging In College: Sonakshi Sinha
Actress Sonakshi Sinha, whose next film "Akira" also touches upon the subject of ragging, says she had faced ragging herself during her college days.

"Ragging is touched upon greatly in the film ('Akira'). I feel that I did go through it in SNDT (Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women's University), which is an all-girls' college but it was a way of making friends with each other," Sonakshi said here.

"Till today, people who ragged me or I ragged my juniors, we are still friends. I think it should be an enjoyable process to everyone and not something that traumatises a student or a child for life. That's something which needs to be taken care of."

"Akira" sees Sonakshi's character coming to Mumbai from Jodhpur, where she gets into a tiff with the goons of the college she enrols in.

The story is about her fight to come out of a case, where the college goons, a corrupt cop played by Anurag Kashyap and another played by Konkona Sen Sharma play crucial roles.

Kashyap will be seen playing the antagonist in the film and she says he has done a great job.

"Anurag has been fantastic antagonist to my protagonist. He is very good in the film. It was so nice that he was working as an actor and did not try to be a director in any way. He let A.R. Murugadoss do his film and he did a fabulous job. I told him he should take up more acting," Sonakshi said.

Having worked with action heroes like Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn, she says whatever she has observed while working with them, she has applied it in "Akira".

"Observing them in all the films has really helped me. When I used to watch them doing action movies, I used to feel when will I get to do this. They have been doing it for so many years and it's a treat to watch them. Whatever I have seen them doing, I applied it here."

Presented by Fox Star Studios, "Akira" is directed by Murugadoss, who had previously directed Sonakshi in the film "Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty", which was a success at the box office.

The film will release on September 2.
