I'm No Guru To Comment On Schools Being Made To Sing Vande Mataram: Vivek Oberoi

IANS, 11 Aug, 2017 12:03 PM
A day after the Bombay Municipal Corporation passed a notice making singing 'Vande Mataram' in all the BMC run states compulsory, actor Vivek Oberoi quipped that he needs to consult Gurus to understand the politicization of the matter.

Speaking on the issue, he said, "It gives me a sense of pride to say Vande Mataram. But personally, I don't know if this is against a religion or not," adding, this should not be unnecessarily politicized.

He also said that the feeling of nationalism unites the country. He said, "People go to temples, churches, mosques etc to pray. But they don't need to go to different places to feel proud for their nation."
