I'm Not A Fan Of Myself: Shah Rukh Khan

IANS, 11 Apr, 2016 11:50 AM
  • I'm Not A Fan Of Myself: Shah Rukh Khan
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who shares a huge fan following -- a glimpse of which can be seen in the trailer of his highly anticipated film “Fan”, says that in real life, he doesn't like himself much.

“In real life, I’m not fond of me. I don’t like myself much. If I was fond of myself, then I would not play the characters I play, I would play myself,” Shah Rukh said on TV show “Yaar Mera Superstar”.

“I don’t see myself as people see me. In fact, I don’t even see my films. I watch them only at technical levels, like I saw 'Fan'. I haven’t seen a movie of mine on television either. There are so many of my movies that I haven’t seen. I am not a fan of myself,” he added.

The 50-year-old, who will be seen in a dual avatar - as superstar Aryan and his biggest fan Gaurav - in the Maneesh Sharma directorial, says he doesn’t even like the word ‘fan’.

“Fan is a derivative of fanatic. It can be a bit negative also, at times. For people who like me, I have never, in my career of 25 years, called them fans. They are admirers. We talk about fan because I’m promoting a movie of the same name. I personally find the word ‘fan’ very presumptuous,” the “Dilwale” star shared.

“I had never thought that so many people, from so many places, will actually love me so much,” he added.

“Fan” is slated to release on Friday.

The episode of “Yaar Mera Superstar” featuring Shah Rukh will be aired on Tuesday.
