I'm Not Good Enough To Do Plays: Shahid

  • I'm Not Good Enough To Do Plays: Shahid
Actor Shahid Kapoor says that theatre is a beautiful platform, but he feels he is not good enough to be on the stage right now.

The son of actors Pankaj Kapur and Neelima Azeem made his Bollywood debut in 2003 with the romantic comedy "Ishq Vishk". Shahid, who has tasted success and also touched a low point on his career graph, said that he would like his father to continue doing plays and teach the younger generation about the medium.

Speaking at a session at Jio MAMI 18th Mumbai Film Festival with Star here on Sunday, Shahid said: "Theatre is a beautiful platform. I tell my father to do it and teach us because our generation hasn't experienced theatre so closely. I was very young when I joined films. Then I went on concentrating on it. I wanted to learn acting in front of the camera and because of that, till now I've not been able to give time to theatre."

"They say that theatre is an actor's medium. For an actor, the true experience of performing is in front of a live audience. If I get a chance, I will do it for sure. But I feel I am not capable or good enough to be on the stage. I would love to watch theatre plays and support theatre groups," he added.

The "Haider" star also expressed his excitement over getting cast in filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Padmavati".

"I am happy it is coming to me today. I am happy that I am working with a filmmaker like Sanjay Leela Bhansali... When I saw 'Bajirao Mastani', I went berserk on Twitter. I haven't started shooting with him yet, but am sure it will be amazing," he said.

He touched upon the "two hero" topic as the film also stars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone.

"I find it absurd when people say it is 'two hero' film. The film has three principal characters. These are just ways of creating some kind of material which is exciting at a frivolous level. I am happy that the film has been cast the way it has and all the three of us are participating in it and it is being made," said Shahid, who hopes they can give a great cinematic experience to the audience.
