I'm Not Scared: Soha On 'Clash' With Kunal

  • I'm Not Scared: Soha On 'Clash' With Kunal
Actress Soha Ali Khan-starrer “31st October”, her first film post marriage, may release alongside her husband actor Kunal Kemmu's “Guddu Ki Gun” on October 30. She says she is “not scared” of their box office "clash".

“I think it will be exciting. We have been married for six months, we need some excitement! The producers have decided that they are going to release it (around that time). October 31 is a sensible time to release our film because it’s called ‘31st October’ and Friday (October 30) is close to that date,” Soha told IANS.

“I’m not scared by him (Kunal) or ‘Guddu Ki Gun’. I think that there is enough appetite in the industry for both films and they are very different in genre,” she said.

While “Guddu Ki Gun” is a comedy film, “31st October” is a historical drama based on the aftermath of the 1984 riots.

Soha, who has starred in “Rang De Basanti”, “Mumbai Meri Jaan” and “Midnight's Children”, will be seen playing a “strong female protagonist” in “31st October”.

“The film is about a family on the night of the Indira Gandhi assassination and the Sikh riots that followed in Delhi. The woman's role in the film is very primitive,” she said.

Asked why she doesn't prefer to work in commercial films, the 36-year-old said: “I haven’t kept myself away from commercial cinema. I have no agenda. It’s not that I want to do only art films or I don’t want to do commercial films.

"I just want to be a part of interesting films and for me, the box office success doesn’t matter. Now when Hindi film industry has become a 100 percent business and no longer an art, unfortunately, it does matter.”
