  • Indian fans to experience 'Star Wars' saga

After giving "Star Wars" fans in the capital a chance to experience Lightsabers or laser swords that are popular courtesy the film franchise, now Disney is set to take the experience to more cities in India to keep the buzz around the upcoming "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" alive.

The Lightsaber Challenge happened in Delhi earlier this month, and it will be extended to more fans across the country as it travels to other cities including Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Pune.

It is a "fun and immersive activation around the film", says Amrita Pandey, vice president and head of Marketing and Distribution, Studios, Disney India.

"'Star Wars' is one of the most loved franchises and Lightsabers are an iconic symbol of the film. We will be taking this epic event to some of the key cities in the country in order to whet the appetite of ardent movie lovers to experience the aura of 'Star Wars'," she added.

Also, to bring alive the "Star Wars" universe, Disney has also brought in the "Star Wars: Battle Pod" in the country. The Pod immerses players in the excitement of epic Star Wars battles and puts that level of fun and control in the hands of the fans, she added.

One of the biggest Hollywood franchises, the "Star Wars" saga will see the much-awaited reboot this year in December.
