Jolly LLB 2': No Arshad, Lots of Akshay And Sassy Dialogues

Darpan News Desk IANS, 19 Dec, 2016 01:50 PM
The trailer of "Jolly LLB 2" whittles down to a satirical formula: a flippant near-jobless irresponsible lawyer-hero whose conscience undergoes a massive awakening during the course of the film. This is the formula used in the first film. It returns to haunt the second film.

This time, "Jolly LLB" is played by Akshay Kumar instead of Arshad Warsi -- except that he is no longer named Jolly, but Jagdishwar Mishra with a wife Pushpa Pandey who seems to be in the habit of passing out drunk while her husband harangues her about life.

Actress Huma Qureshi, who plays the wife, looks convincing while unconscious. Let's hope she has more to do than meeting Nitish Kumar's approval.

The highlight of the first "Jolly LLB" film was Saurabh Shukla as the laconic sarcastic judge. It's no different in "Jolly LLB 2" where Shukla seems to have the best lines. Shukla has the time of his life lording over his lines. At one point, he tells the whining lawyer-hero to stop his 'Nirupa Roy-type of dialogues'.

The film has a sharp small town ambience to it, aided by actors who know the milieu -- like Annu Kapoor and Saurabh Shukla. This should be fun.

Writer-director Subhash Kapoor seemed to have lost his movie-making mojo on his last film "Guddu Rangeela". In "Jolly LLB 2", he seems to have got back his groove.

    Three stars to the trailer.
