Kajol Praises Ajay Devgn's Co-production 'Parched'

  • Kajol Praises Ajay Devgn's Co-production 'Parched'
Actress Kajol has lauded her husband and filmmaker Ajay Devgn's co-production "Parched", saying the film is about women and friendship.

Kajol on Monday evening tweeted: "'Parched'. A film about women, friendships and simply being brave enough to find a happier ending. Being happy could just b a guilt free choice."

Directed by Leena Yadav, "Parched" stars Radhika Apte, Tannishtha Chatterjee, and Lehar Khan. The film is set to hit the screens on September 23.

Set in rural India, "Parched" follows the lives of three ordinary women who begin to break free from centuries-old traditions.

'PARCHED' ISN'T JUST ABOUT WOMEN: AJAY DEVGN

Actor-filmmaker Ajay Devgn says his forthcoming production "Parched" isn't just about women, but also about the issues that society faces at large.

"This film isn't about women only, but also about the men... where both are victims. It is the society pressure which forces men to do things apart from the mindset. So, this film talks about tackling both the issues," he said at the trailer launch of the film.

"Parched", directed by Leena Yadav, highlights issues like dowry system, physical violence, forced marriages, rape and mental cruelty against women.

"While you are making a film like this, as a producer, you should be prepared for implications. As for the film, we've shown the reality, but sometimes they (CFBC) are also correct that after a limit, one can't exhibit anything for the sake of reality."

"Therefore, I think makers should know their boundaries... what to show and what not to. In this film, we didn't face any trouble. The film deserves an adult certification and we got that," he said.

The film has been well received at fests in Melbourne and Toronto.

Ajay feels that film festivals are important.

"Films like 'Parched' don't get that much admiration if they are only released in theatre. Film festivals are important to promote and earn appreciation," he said.
