Kalank: Meet Alia Bhatt’s Coy Bride Roop, Sonakshi Sinha's Satya And Madhuri Dixit’s Bahaar Begum

    On the occasion of International Women's Day on Friday, filmmaker Karan Johar unveiled the first look of actress Alia Bhatt from the upcoming period drama "Kalank".

     

    Introducing Alia's character of Roop among netizens, Karan, who is co-producing the film, wrote: "To love her is to love fire. Presenting Roop!"

     

    Along with it, he shared the poster in which Alia is sporting a royal ethnic look, wearing red veil and heavy jewellery.

     
     
     
     

    Actress Madhuri Dixit Nene, who is also a part of the film, shared Alia's look and described her character as "full of life and has a heart of gold".

     

    Not only Madhuri, other co-stars including Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur, introduced Alia's character.

     

    Sonakshi said Roop is "free, bound only by love!"

     

    On Thursday, the team unveiled the characters of the film's male actors -- Varun Dhawan will be seen as Zafar, Aditya as Dev Chaudhry and Sanjay Dutt as Balraj Chaudhry.

     

    Directed by Abhishekh Varman, "Kalank" is scheduled to release on April 19.

     
     

    After unveiling the look of actress Alia Bhatt from the upcoming epic drama "Kalank" online on Friday, the makers introduced the film's other female characters played by actresses Madhuri Dixit Nene and Sonakshi Sinha.

     

    Sharing a glimpse of her character of Bahaar Begum, Madhuri said that it was "my honour to play such an enchanting character".

     

    Madhuri's appearance is reminiscent of her look of Chandramukhi from the 2002 film "Devdas". In the poster, with tears in her eyes, she is seen sporting a red veil.

     
     
     
     
     

    Sonakshi on the other hand, will be seen playing the role of Satya.

     

    Filmmaker Karan Johar, who is co-producing the film, described Satya as "pure, elegant and filled with love". Sonakshi can be seen wearing a bindi and vermillion in the poster.

     

    Alia will essay the character of Roop, who is "free and bound by only love".

     

    Apart from Madhuri, Alia and Sonakshi, "Kalank" also features male stars Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sanjay Dutt.

     

    Written and directed by Abhishek Varman, the film is scheduled to release on April 19.
