Kiran Rao will lend her voice for the very first time for 'Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan' a flagship project of Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao's 'Paani Foundation' in association with the state government, which aims at making villages drought- free in five years through water conservation programmes.
 
This will be the first time Kiran Rao will sing and the talented filmmaker will sing in Marathi language. She will be singing for the promotional video of the campaign, which will be helmed by National award winning director Nagraj Manjule.
 
The video will feature Aamir Khan and Marathi blockbuster Sairat's lead pair, Akash Thosar and Rinku Rajguru among many celebrities and the lyrics of the promotional song has been penned by Guru Thakur, while the music for the same has been composed by ace composers Ajay - Atul. 
 
The video has been beautifully shot by Nagraj Manjule who has understood the essence and importance of the initiative.
 
The cast and the team who is a part of this video are very interesting and promising. The Idea of promoting the campaign via a video which is decided by Aamir and Kiran to raise awareness with a music video sure sounds captivating. 
 
Well, this year Aamir Khan announced the Satyamev Jayate Water Cup, a competition among villages to conserve water. Ahead of the second edition of the Cup in 30 talukas of the state.
 
The names of the participating talukas will be announced at the conference tomorrow at Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' Sahyadri State Guest House. 
 
Besides the Chief Minister, actor Aamir Khan and filmmaker Kiran Rao will also be present at the event.
 
The previous year had as many as 116 villages that took part in the competition, which created an annual water storage capacity of 1,368 crore litres in three talukas of the state.
 
Aamir Khan witnessed tremendous success with the test project.
 
Aamir had said during the Water Cup awards function last October, " The first edition of the Water Cup was a pilot project and with its success, we now want to extend the watershed management programme to 30 more talukas in Maharashtra to make villages water- sufficient".
 
The competition will take place from April 8 to May 22. Top three villages across the state will get a cash prize of 50 lakh, 30 lakh and 20 lakh respectively. In addition, the top village from each taluka will be awarded a cash prize of 10 lakh.
