Director Anurag Kashyap says that he loves his former mentor Ram Gopal Varma more than Varma does.
 
At the trailer launch of his film "Veerappan", Varma had said that he loved Kashyap but Kashyap hated him. Asked about it at a special screening of Kannada film "Thithi", Kashyap said: "Oh! That he thinks. I love him as much as he loves me. I actually love him more."
 
Varma had also said that there was no cold war between them, but it was always a "hot war" and that Kashyap hated all of his films but he liked some of his work.
 
Kashyap had begun his journey in the film industry as a writer on Varma's films such as "Shool", "Kaun", and "Satya". The duo then fell out and then exchanged some taunts at each other like Kashyap on Karan Johar's show aKoffee With Karan' or when Varma mocked Kashyap after the debacle of "Bombay Velvet".
 
As a member of the production house Phantom Productions, Kashyap is one of the producers of the film "Udta Punjab" which has been apparently banned by the censor board for excessive use of expletives.
 
After clarifying in a tweet that it was not banned, he said: "You (media) have created the controversy, you tell me the solution. You declared the film 'banned', neither was the film banned nor did anything else happen. You all don't even know what has happened.
 
"Nothing happened... it's what happens normally. They referred the film to the revising committee, and they'll watch it and when they'll watch you'll come to know what has happened."
 
His films "Paanch" and "Black Friday" among others have had issues with the censor board.
 
About always being at loggerheads with the board, Kashyap said: "This is not my film, this is Abhishek Chaubey's film; I'm just one of the many producers in the film. The films that I have directed have been at loggerheads with the censor board, not the ones that I have produced."
 
 
"Udta Punjab" stars Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh.
