Margarita With A Straw Grabs Best Feature Film Award At International Fest

    Kalki Koechlin-starrer “Margarita With A Straw", which narrates the struggle of a cerebral palsy-affected girl, has bagged the Best Feature Film award at Filmfest DC, the Washington, DC, International Film Festival.
     
    “And in Filmfest DC look who won best feature film! http://filmfestdc.org/ #MargaritaWithAStraw,” Kalki tweeted on Tuesday.
     
    The 29th annual Washington, DC, International Film Festival appreciates young filmmakers for weaving together the complexities of relationships into a story with an engrossing and unique storytelling technique. The international film gala was held from April 16 till April 26. 
     
    Directed by Shonali Bose, the film, which has garnered plaudits from all quarters, also explores sensitive issue like having a bisexual relationship and discovering one's sexuality. The film was released in India this month. 
     
    The official page of the film festival states that the Indian film “explores and challenges Indian culture and society in so many ways that have rarely been done on screen”.
