Bollywood superstar Saif Ali Khan on Wednesday launched the latest Asus ZenFone 2, which is touted to be the first 4GB smartphone in India. The actor considers mobile phones as a “good time pass”, but doesn't call himself a gizmo freak.
 
The new addition in the highly anticipated and award winning ZenFone range -- which was launched last year -- ZenFone 2 is designed to give users an easy one-handed experience.
 
“Mobiles is the best mode of communication with the world. It's like a personal computer, and the camera and a friend to talk to in the darkness. But it's not my best friend,” Saif told IANS.
 
“My phone is....not really a friend, it's rather an extension of me. Just like technology is an extension of our mind, my phone is an extension of me,” added the 44-year-old, who was accompanied at the event by photographer Dabboo Ratnani and singer Aditi Singh Sharma.
 
With 3.9 mm thin edges and a luxurious metallic hairline, ZenFone 2 provides some incredible specifications including PixelMaster camera, Intel Atom Processor with a sizzling 4GB RAM and a 5.5 inch screen, at an affordable range starting from Rs.12,999.
 
The launch of the phone, which took place here at Kingdom of Dreams, witnessed a power-packed performance by Aditi, who sang some of her big hits like “Sooraj dooba hain”, “Dhoom machale dhoom” and “Offo”.
 
Asked what keeps him occupied on his phone, Saif said: “Surf the net, make phone calls, videos, pictures. I like to stay in touch. It's a wonderful device. But quite often I don't take my cellphone out with me. I like to not be controlled by it. So, I leave it at home."
 
Is he a gizmo freak?
 
“No, not a freak. I used to love electronics, when they weren't so readily available, like in the 1980s and 1990s, it would have been really cool to have a video game console, but now they are everywhere. So, I prefer slightly older world now with less gizmos, even though I have them,” he said.
