My Phone Not My Best Friend: Saif Ali Khan

Darpan News Desk IANS, 23 Apr, 2015 11:38 AM
  • My Phone Not My Best Friend: Saif Ali Khan
Bollywood superstar Saif Ali Khan on Wednesday launched the latest Asus ZenFone 2, which is touted to be the first 4GB smartphone in India. The actor considers mobile phones as a “good time pass”, but doesn't call himself a gizmo freak.

The new addition in the highly anticipated and award winning ZenFone range -- which was launched last year -- ZenFone 2 is designed to give users an easy one-handed experience.

“Mobiles is the best mode of communication with the world. It's like a personal computer, and the camera and a friend to talk to in the darkness. But it's not my best friend,” Saif told IANS.

“My phone is....not really a friend, it's rather an extension of me. Just like technology is an extension of our mind, my phone is an extension of me,” added the 44-year-old, who was accompanied at the event by photographer Dabboo Ratnani and singer Aditi Singh Sharma.

With 3.9 mm thin edges and a luxurious metallic hairline, ZenFone 2 provides some incredible specifications including PixelMaster camera, Intel Atom Processor with a sizzling 4GB RAM and a 5.5 inch screen, at an affordable range starting from Rs.12,999.

The launch of the phone, which took place here at Kingdom of Dreams, witnessed a power-packed performance by Aditi, who sang some of her big hits like “Sooraj dooba hain”, “Dhoom machale dhoom” and “Offo”.

Asked what keeps him occupied on his phone, Saif said: “Surf the net, make phone calls, videos, pictures. I like to stay in touch. It's a wonderful device. But quite often I don't take my cellphone out with me. I like to not be controlled by it. So, I leave it at home."

Is he a gizmo freak?

“No, not a freak. I used to love electronics, when they weren't so readily available, like in the 1980s and 1990s, it would have been really cool to have a video game console, but now they are everywhere. So, I prefer slightly older world now with less gizmos, even though I have them,” he said.
