Never Been More Afraid To Speak My Mind: Arshad Warsi

Darpan News Desk IANS, 02 Mar, 2017 01:08 PM
Actor Arshad Warsi, who usually does not mince words on issues of public concern, says he has never felt more afraid of expressing his beliefs and opinions.

Delhi University student Gurmehar Kaur has been for over a week in news for her online campaign against the ABVP. While cricketer Virender Sehwag and actor Randeep Hooda were condemned for seemingly mocking at her via their Twitter posts, some other celebrities have spoken up in support of the girl and for upholding freedom of expression in the country.

Arshad tweeted on Thursday: "Never been more afraid to speak my mind or the truth, as I am now, considering the present scenario. Really hope things get better."

In view of the current political scenario in India, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap on Wednesday said social media platforms are being used to create polarisation in the nation.

Gurmehar Kaur had posted on Facebook a picture of herself holding a placard that read, "I am a student from Delhi University. I am not afraid of ABVP. I am not alone. Every student of India is with me", following last week's violence in Ramjas College of Delhi University.

"Pakistan did not kill my dad, war killed him," added the daughter of an Indian Army officer who was killed in the Kargil war.
