No Pressure: Sonam Kapoor On Cannes Red Carpet Look

  • No Pressure: Sonam Kapoor On Cannes Red Carpet Look
She impressed some when she flaunted an overwhelming nose ring, and received brickbats for a lime green frou frou Elie Saab gown during past appearances on the famous Cannes Film Festival red carpet. But actress Sonam Kapoor, who is set to walk there again this year, says she doesn't think about the feedback and concentrates on following the mantra, 'Be yourself'.

"As opposed to what people would assume, I don't really think about it at all. There is no pressure on me... I don't take myself too seriously," Sonam told IANS in an interview.

"I've always felt great in everything I've worn and it has always appealed to my sensibilities," added the "Khoobsurat" actress, who is amongst the most stylish actresses in Bollywood.

The "Neerja" star also shared a tip to bring the best at the carpet.

"The best way to bring your A-game on the red carpet is to be yourself," Sonam said.

Known for creatic chic fashion statements often with saris, gowns, dresses or even with casuals, the L'Oreal Paris brand ambassador will take to the 69th Cannes Film Festival red carpet on Sunday and Monday, as well as attend the amfAR gala -- a charity event -- there.

Asked to comment on how film festivals as big as Cannes see mostly women from Bollywood, Sonam said: "It is something to be proud about. Our films too are making a big splash at the festival and I'm happy to represent the country in whatever capacity I can."

The "Khoobsurat" star is associated with the Cannes Film Festival for the sixth time and she says she looks forward to the experience.

"It feels wonderful. I always look forward to the experience. L'Oreal is the best host," she added.

On the work front, Sonam will next be seen in her home production "Veerey Di Wedding".

At Cannes, actress Mallika Sherawat has already walked the red carpet for her film "Time Raider", and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be seen there on Friday. The latter's film "Sarbjit" will be screened at the gala, which is amongst the most popular film fests across the world and attracts several leading names from showbiz.
