Nobody Can Portray Lakhan Better Than Me: Anil Kapoor

  • Nobody Can Portray Lakhan Better Than Me: Anil Kapoor
Actor Anil Kapoor says that no one can portray his popular character Lakhan from his film "Ram Lakhan" better than him, and he even wished he got awards for his performance in the film.

Asked at an event for IIFA Awards about filmmaker Rohit Shetty's reported plans for a remake of the film, with younger actors, Anil quipped: "I have been hearing this for three and half years. Let him make the film now. Nobody can portray Lakhan better than me. Let's do a lottery on that."

"Ram Lakhan", helmed by Subhash Ghai, released in 1989, and became a blockbuster. Reportedly, Shetty is planning to cast Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh as Ram (played by Jackie Shroff in the Ghai film) and Lakhan respectively.

Anil, who had previously said that Ranveer and his daughter Sonam should work together, said: "But I feel Ranveer (Singh) is the best choice for the film."

He also added: "That time I felt like that I should have got awards for 'Eeshwar', and 'Ram Lakhan' as a popular film. 'Ram Lakhan' was a big hit that time. I even feel I did not get that many awards for 'Lamhe'."

"There are also some films for which I didn't think I deserve an award, but I got it. But I don't want to name those," he said.

"Eeshwar", also released in 1989, was directed by K. Vishwanath and Rajesh Malik while "Lamhe", released in 1991, was directed by Yash Chopra.
