Now, Honey Singh wants to focus on 'durable' work

Darpan News Desk IANS, 23 Aug, 2014 07:08 AM
  • Now, Honey Singh wants to focus on 'durable' work
Rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh, who rustled up hit number "Aata majhi satakli" for "Singham Returns" in 30 minutes, says quick work means "compromising with quality" and that he now wants to focus on durable compositions.

"I couldn't say no to the 'Singham Returns' track, although I had no time for it. But for some reason producers and heroes in Bollywood feel I can deliver a track at the shortest notice. 'Kuch bhi kar do, kuch bhi nikaal lo,' I am told," said Honey from London.

"You end up compromising with quality when you work in this way. Yes, the 'Singham Returns' song was composed in half an hour. I am not happy with the way it was done," he added.

But the track was an instant chartbuster garnering millions of hits.

"I had the 'Singham Returns' song ready in half an hour. I flew back to Mumbai for a day to do the video with Ajay (Devgn), Kareena (Kapoor) and the children and flew back to London within a day. This is not the way to do durable work."

However, he says Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar gave him ample time to create "Lungi dance" in "Chennai Express" and "Party all night" for "Boss" respectively.

Honey is certainly flattered by the demand for his work in Bollywood, but not at the cost of quality.

"I need time. Please don't rush me. Please don't tell me to deliver a song in hours. And please don't say, 'Kuch bhi chalega'. That's an encouragement for compromise and mediocrity," he said.
