One cut as good as 100 cuts: Vivek Agnihotri on 'Udta Punjab'

Darpan News Desk IANS, 13 Jun, 2016 11:01 AM
"Buddha in a Traffic Jam" director Vivek Agnihotri does not like the Bombay High Court's decision to clear "Udta Punjab" with one cut. He says one cut is still a cut.

"Censor board should be abolished. Why even that one cut? One cut is as good as 100 cuts. Any cut is a cut," Agnihotri told IANS.

"I think we have become a hopeless society. I don't think that going to the High Court has solved any purpose. I think it's a sheer waste of time, and producers have lost money," he added.

While the makers of "Udta Punjab" and the film fraternity at large are hailing the victory of democracy and freedom of expression, Agnihotri said: "If they had just said pass the film without any cuts, that would have been the victory of freedom of expression. Now what is the point?

    "I don't like the High Court's decision."
