ox office numbers don't matter, says 'Pink' maker Shoojit Sirkar

  • ox office numbers don't matter, says 'Pink' maker Shoojit Sirkar
Shoojit Sirkar's "Pink" is receiving accolades from all quarters since its release. The overwhelmed producer-director thanked the audience and critics for showering immense appreciation for the film.

"I would like to thank the audience for the positive response on behalf of 'Pink' team. The response is unprecedented. I didn't make this film for the box-office and the numbers don't matter to me at all," he said at the press conference of "Pink" on Monday.

"When a girl would be able to reach her home late at night without any trouble that day I would term this film as a success," he added.

Asked if Sircar is willing to make films on other issues, he replied, "I don't make films thinking about a certain issue. I narrate a story and somehow if I can connect to a certain issue, I feel good. However, I feel every story should be issue-based."

Speaking about his filmmaking, the "Vicky Donor" helmer said, "People ask me why you don't do this or that kind of cinema. I tell them about an incident of my childhood. After telling a story, my class teacher used to ask us what is the moral of the story. Therefore, if I don't have a moral of a story that I want to tell, then there is no point to tell you that. So, it gives me the courage to narrate a story with morality and I will continue to make films in that way."

Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, Angad Bedi, Andrea Tariang, Piyush Mishra and Dhritiman Chatterjee, the film released on September 16.
