‘PM Narendra Modi’ Biopic: New Trailer Takes Potshots At Manmohan Singh - WATCH

Darpan News Desk IANS, 21 May, 2019 09:57 PM

Ahead of the film’s release on May 24, the makers of ‘PM Narendra Modi’ biopic have just shared another official trailer.

The 2.12 trailer wastes no time in presenting the Congress and former United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government in a poor light.

It starts with scenes of crowds chanting for Modi followed by characters that strongly resemble Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and former UPA PM Manmohan Singh.

Vivek Oberoi, who portrays Narendra Modi, says in a voiceover: “Desh ki tijori gayab, naujawan ke rojgar gayab, koyla gayab, bijli gayab, yahaan tak ki pradhan mantriji ki awaaz bhi gayab”

The camera then shifts towards the actor, who is apparently playing Manmohan.

The trailer then traces Modi’s journey from selling tea at a railway station to his tryst with the RSS to his eventual position as Chief Minister of Gujarat.

Even, Boman Irani makes an appearance as Ratan Tata.

It ends with the words: “Jeetne ka maja tabh aata hai jab sab aapke haarne ki umeed karte hain.”

The biopic was initially slated to release on April 10, a day before the first phase of the general election was to commence.

The Election Commission (EC) put a ban on the release of the biopic. On April 26, the Supreme Court upheld the EC’s decision to ban the film till May 19.

‘PM Narendra Modi’ has been directed by Omung Kumar and produced by Sandip Ssingh and Suresh Oberoi.

The film stars Vivek Oberoi, Boman Irani, Darshan Kumaar, Barkha Sengupta and Zarina Wahab.
